Things To Do/What To Do & Places To Go in Hong Kong Part 1

From my recent trip to Hong Kong, I’ve put together a list of things to do, what to do and places to go in Hong Kong. I hope this helps you plan an awesome trip to Hong Kong!

First, we’ll take a look at the MTR Map (I would recommend you to print this off as it’ll help you get a better understanding of the suburbs)

Shopping (Hong Kong Street Markets)

1) Sham Shui Po (For Electronics, Games & Computers)

If you’re looking for cheap bargain electronics, games & computers, go to Sham Shui Po (refer to the MTR Map, at the top on the red line). Sham Shui Po is infamous for it’s crazy electronics market, where sellers are aggressively competing with each other with hot deals and dirty cheap prices. But it doesn’t stop there, like any other chinese market, you’re expected to work for that deal! If you’re not good at bargaining, you better start practicing, or you’ll get ripped off big time. Expect to bargain in any run down street store or street markets (obviously not in large shopping centers, if you bargain there, you’ll look like the biggest tool). Here’s a post on how to bargain in Hong Kong.

2) Mong Kok Tung Choi Street (for cheap clothes, fake bags, wallets, watches, etc. Similar to paddy’s market but better)

Mong Kok is in the middle of the MTR Map on the green line. So this is basically the famous ‘Woman’s Street” or “Woman’s Market” in Hong Kong, if you have any chinese friends, ask them and they’ll definitely know about it. You’ll easily spend a few hours walking down that street without knowing it. It’s the best place for people who enjoy the thrill and atmosphere of markets where people are yelling out deals and bargaining with customers.

3) Causeway Bay Time Square (huge shopping center for big brands like LV, Gucci etc)

Causeway Bay is located on the blue line at the bottom of the MTR Map. This is the best location for big brands/expensive shopping. From $2,000 Tag Heuer watches to $1,500 Chloe Bags, Time Square is your one stop location for expensive shopping, similar to shopping at Martin Place in Sydney.
